Here is what Hot Topix WordPress Theme users around the world are saying about the theme,
Magazine layout looks engaging on a content rich site or blog and that’s why I was looking for a modern magazine WordPress theme. Finally after looking at so many themes, I found Hot Topix on Themeforest. As I monetize my technology blog using direct advertisements and Google Adsense, the ready ad spaces came very handy in placing Google Ads without much effort or customization. Even no need to use any external Ad manager plugin to place ads. Hot Topix WordPress theme is a compact, 100% responsive theme with lot many features. After using this theme for few weeks, here are my thoughts on that.
Very engaging, modern and ultra design to make the site look vibrant. You can change the color scheme of theme and set any color using the color picker available on theme option panel. With the bold design and featured post section, the site looks amazingly beautiful. The user interface and experience is great for someone who is looking at a magazine layout.
Hot Topix comes with a premium plugin named Menufication which enables a stunning menu on mobile devices. The theme is not having fluid layout but is 100% responsive and works great on all type of devices.
Page Load Speed
Magazine layout themes are expected to be media rich and if you have more media files, the load speed may get impacted. Well, the speed totally depends on the content of the page as well as lot many other parameters. I checked the Google PageSpeed of Hot Topix official demo and found the numbers very disturbing as the score came as 45 out of 100. It is a very poor score for a site but one should not blame the theme completely for this mess. The PageSpeed score depends on the demo page content, caching of the page, number of HTTP requests, Image sizes and lot many other parameters. I optimized one of my site where I was testing Hot Topix using plugins such as WP Super Cache and Autoptimize and increased the score to 75 for desktop and 65 for mobile device which is good.
I would suggest not to compare the score with minimal design sites or sites with less content. If you are going to use Google Ads and Media rich files on the page, the PageSpeed score comes down. But a PageSpeed of above 75 is good and achievable with Hot Topix.
